30 Minute Hit Chilliwack

This event to me, means our community coming together to support this very important cause.  It doesn’t matter who you talk to, everyone has had a friend, Mother, sister, daughter, Aunt or Grandmother who has had or is fighting cancer.  Research has come a long way, but there is still more to do.  I believe in supporting this event to help women now and in the future so we can one day live in a world without fear of the word cancer.  Please join me, along with all our 30 Minute Hit family to Kick the *&%! out of Cancer!

“What does this event mean to me? (30 Minute Hit’s Kick the *&%! out of Cancer)

It means standing together and fighting against something that so many women have to go through in their lives. With everyone’s help, one day we WILL beat it. At the beginning of this year, I lost my friend, Jen, to cancer. She found out she had it when she was pregnant with her first child and fought hard through her pregnancy. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor only a few days after giving birth. She passed away when her son was only 2 years old after battling harder than anyone I’ve ever seen. She held on to watch her son take his first steps, marry her husband and live happily together. No one should have to say goodbye so soon. She was a loving Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, and Friend. I’m fighting for Jen and all of the other Mothers, Daughters, Wives, Sisters, Friends, Aunts out there who have been touched by Cancer. Together, we will beat this! Please join me and the other 30 Minute Hit Members in kicking the *&%! out of Cancer!”

“What does this event mean to me” (30 Minute Hit’s Kick the *&%! out of Cancer) This event is very important to me as I just lost my mother back in April 2011 to Lung and Bone Cancer. I watched my mother lose weight and suffer. It was the hardest thing a daughter could ever witness. I just had a baby in February and when I heard my mother only had 2-3 months to live I jumped on a plane with my 2 month old son to Montreal. I landed at 6:30pm and walked right away to her Hospice. I sat with her for two lovely hours and she got her wish….to meet her grandson. Sadly, she passed away the next morning at 10:00am. I NEED to do this…..I WANT to do this for my mother and everyone else out there trying to fight this disease so that they can enjoy life and spend quality time with family. I have a broken foot but that will NOT stop me from punching my way to my goal. Please join me in the month of October so that we can KICK the *&%! out of Cancer! Let’s do it!!!!”

My personal story about cancer does not have a happy ending.  My father was diagnosed with a brain tumor about 2 years ago -he passed away just weeks afterwards. It was amazing to see how dignified and strong he was right through to the end.  In those last few weeks, it was truly humbling to see the never ending flow of family and friends who came to say goodbye to my Dad, and his bravery and spirit during this time was so inspiring it brings me to tears every time that I think about it.  My father decided not to fight the inevitable, instead he used his time and energy to inspire others to love every minute of life that we have. He was grateful for every moment that he had lived and encouraged everyone to live their best lives now. His message was to be kind and to do good, to live in the now, and to do what make you happy.  I am so pleased to be part of an organization that believes in these same values and supports a charity that fights to give everyone as many moments as possible.  With every HIT in October, I know that I am positively contributing to a worthy cause and that my father would be proud of the work that we are all doing to kick the *&%! out of cancer.  It makes me HIT more and it make me HIT harder!

“What does this event mean to me? (30 Minute Hit’s Kick the *&%! Out of Cancer) it allows me to fight for all those wives, mothers and grandmothers who fought or are still fighting against cancer. In the spring of 2010 my future mother in law was diagnosed with colon cancer and would need a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. She told her sons that it was the end for her. They told her to FIGHT!!! Fight to see her son get married, fight to see her first grandchild and fight for her family. A year and a half later and she’s cancer free! Lily I am fighting for you! Please join me and other 30 Minute Hit members to kick the *&%! out of cancer.”

“What does this event mean to me?” It means giving myself, my daughters and my mom a fighting chance against Cancer. 10 years ago my mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I watched her lose her hair, lose one of her breasts, lose her smile, lose her energy and strength but not lose her fight. She is now a 5-year survivor! I will also help fight the fight for those who can no longer fight or who are just starting their fight and don’t have the energy. Please join me and your other 30 Min Hit members in Kicking the *&%! out of Cancer and help win the real fight!”

This event means a lot to both Chris and I. Over our years we have witnessed many of our close friends and family’s lives be affected by the negative impacts Cancer has on a person, a family, a life. Not only does a Woman need courage and strength to win the battle, she needs the help from the Canadian Cancer Society and a strong, solid support system of Woman going through the same thing. Fighting is hard but imperative and we are proud to do our part. Every dollar raised is another dollar towards the hope of one day finding a cure
